Flashing DVD Drive Firmware?

I have a Memorex DVD+/-RW True8Xn Part # 3202-3269 this is the site where I get the firmware. http://www.memorex.com/html/download...CID=11&PID=688. I downloaded the firmware, and tried to run it... it opens up and everything. But when I go to flash the firmware... the program errors out. I dont know if there is just something I need to install in wine before running the flasher to make the thing work... anyone have any ideas on this?

Trying to flash a firmware(any firmware) through wine is a very bad idea.

My first bet would be to download a copy of freedos and see if that exe will run on it. If that does not work (if it actually needs windows) I would transfer the drive to a machine that has windows, update firmware and then reinstall the drive in the original machine.

You should try BartPE. I updated my BIOS by using a Windows Live CD . This works fine.

Not at home right now... but the flasher does need to be ran in windows. And I have a complacated fan... if I shut down my pc... it takes awhile to get it spinning again.
