Fedora 7 on a Dell Inspiron 9400

It seems that alot of people is having trouble with F7
however everything seems to function perfectly on my labby
everything worked out of the box, 1280x1024 res, wireless, sound, everything
however i seem to have one *MINOR* problem with my bluetooth keyboard (logitech DiNovo)
it works when i power on until somepoint in the boot sequence (stops right after the audit service, i dont see a connection though) it stops working
and i have to take out the bluetooth dongle and re-connect it, then it works perfectly..
anybody experienced anything similar?

hardware profile:
Model: Dell inspiron 9400
Motherboard: uhm
GFX: Nvidia 7900 Gs
Proc: Intel Duo 2x 1.83 ghz
Ram: 1024 mb DDR2-SD
Wireless: Intel Pro Wireless 3945
OS: FC7 (duh)

Try clocksource=acpi_pm instead...this has worked for many Dell Laptops. http://forums.fedoraforum.org/forum/...ora+live+hangs

Dammm see this kind of scares me ... Since I just bought a Dell E1405... I wanted to load FC7 but I notice a lot of members are having trouble... I should wait other 2 weeks or something ...

Unless they fix the boot problem quick...

Would any of you switch to Kubuntu if FC7 does turn out to work for most dell laptops?

I'm running Kubuntu on my e1405 now with few problems. I'm trying to switch to Fedora, though, for a number of reasons.

I have an Inspiron E1505, and I had to do these things to get into X in Fedora 7, but it is working. Now I'm on to trying to get the 3945ABG WLAN working.

Thought I'd share...

Really why it would not come up ... I have the E1405 loaded with FC7... I had to add this to the kernel to make it come up .

acpi=off The problem with this is that you're only using one cpu since I have dual core...

Other thing let me know if you get your ipw3945 working... share link that you tried... I'm so fricken pissed I can't get it to work right... Right now I just finished reloading everything plus runing the yum update on it.

Yeah the 3945 is frustrating, I haven't even started dealing with that yet.

I had to have the clocksource=acpi_pm added to the grub line, but once I upgraded the kernel via yum-updatesd, I removed the clocksource=acpi_pm and it boots just fine.

Also, I wish I had known about all the ATI Radeon problems. One of my friends just got a similar laptop as mine and he's staunchly opposed to buying anything ATI (would you be surprised to learn that he had no problems getting F7 to load, whereas I spent a long time?)

Yes I know what you mean about the ATI... I had to wait to buy my laptop... I hear it's the worse card to have on a linux box... Really frustrating on how to configure it... Good luck on configuring the ati. I think if you need help you could just post it on here and they are many linux users that might help you...

the ipw3945 is other thing... there are so many different ways users are trying that some of us are getting confuse with one works...

Hopefully when the new kernel comes out or something they will fix this problem or something...

Well currently i am up and running just fine with my ATI Radeon x1400 and my 3945. Can't say it was "easy," but at least it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be before I started!
