xine setup and system dvd player defaults

I am having a problem getting xine to play a storebought copywrited dvd. it plays burned mpeg dvds fine.
how to I change the setup to let it play copywrited dvd's? also how do I change the system defaults in fedora 7 gnome DE to play it with totem or VLC etc.? VLC wont let me access the drive in the menu due to the default I assume. the menu options to open the drive are there but i cant click on them.
thanks,
fryemo

You probably need to install libdvdcss2 in order to play encrypted DVDs. You can get it from thelivna yum repo or by downloading it from VLCs site. I don't use GNOME much, so can't help with the second issue.
