alright maybe if I provide more info of what I wanted to do someone can help? what I want to do is just free some hard drive space witch I did thanks to that tutorial and now I want to make a new partition so I can install windows to play bioshcok I thought all I had to do was free it using the commands like the resize2fs or w/e and then it would be freed to use under gparted what other steps do I need to do because I've been searching everywhere and can't find a thing.. it doesn't have to be with gparted though but I would like it to be if that's possible

Try here.

I don't use LVM if I can possibly avoid it.

I'm starting to see why you would avoid it I think before I install fedora 8 I will see if this type of file system is worth it :X I would rather just use something as simple as gparted and get over it lol.. I'm actually making thing's easier by putting windows install cd on my usb drive and will try to do that with all my bootable discs from now on thanks for that link btw it gave me an idea but as usual I'm stuck at what to do next in the link I saw a thing saying removing logical volumes and I remembered in lvm program there was 2 thing's logical and physical guess what's in logical? my free space exact size and everything.. but now I'm stuck I click remove logical volume and it says it contains data from directory / is there anyway to see what data is in it or is it safe to remove and it always says something like that?

I don't know, stephanie.steve, you'd have to ask somebody who knows more about LVM than I do. I suggest SlowJet. He seems to have a good understanding of it.

We've had several threads about that, but if my relative density on the subject is any measure of need, methinks we could use one more.
