DVD won't play after burn

Hi all, I have a bit of a problem. I am backing up my DVD's using K9copy, selecting the main (largest) title, I have it set to burn with K3b. When it is all done, the DVD will play on my computer but it won't play in my DVD player. I use the same disc on windows and those will play fine, so I know it is not a -+ issue.

Am I doing something wrong in K3b when I burn it?

Is it a pal/ntsc issue by any chance?

Some of the standalone players do not like certain disk types.

That is so funny. My two players at home(older sonys) will not play - but play both +r and +rw.

I am not buying any more standalone players. I moved an older pIII into the living room and play everything off that. Saves me from having to convert and burn so many disks.

I have a sony dvd player and I have always used Sony DVD+R(W) and I have never had any problems, that is until I tried burning with K3b. Is there some setting I may be missing? Do you know of a good "how-to" with K9copy and K3b, I haven't been able to find one.

Thanks.

Methos

My sony standalone will not play pal DVDs. The PAL format DVDs play fine on my computer. So will the original disk play on the standalone DVD player?

You are you using K9copy to generate an ISO and then burning the ISO with k3b? I actually run dvdshrink via wine to generate the ISO. A lot of people have good luck with K9copy but I find on my systems that dvdshrink is much faster.

Good Luck

Thanks for the response. With K9copy I have tried both an ISO and Video_TS / Audio_TS and then burn with K3b. You mentioned the PAL format, is it K9copy or K3b that actually produces the PAL format?

Thanks.

It mostly depends on the source material(pal or ntsc) if you are just doing a straight shrink. I THINK K9copy can be set to re-encode from pal to ntsc (or the other way around) but I have never done it.

Then there should be no pal/ntsc problem.
