The last one on Seve's list (Dangermouse) has a script to make it easier for you.

From a command prompt as root, run:

Code:
 # yum install xine xine-lib xine-lib-extras xine-lib-extras-nonfree xine-plugin
and then run "xine" which will be able to play your avi's.

do you have any working players players if not install vlc plyer
#yum -y install videolan-client
and then open your video file with vlc
it will work only if you have net services

That won't work without the relevant repo set-up.

Uh, yeah, you need Livna, and even then it's yum install vlc. Unless there's some other repository where it's packaged as videolan-client.
