Analog sound only from Soundblaster Live

I have a Soundblaster Live in my system running FC2. For some reason when I do the soundcard test I only hear sound in the speakers plugged into the analog output. I get nothing from the digital output. I've installed the ALSA emu10k1 drivers according to the mini HOWTO on this forum, but I still don't get any sound from the digital speakers. I've tried messing with the digital/analog option in Kmix but it makes no difference. Also, none of the volume controls in Kmix change the volume of the sound from the analog output. Increasing all of the volume levels in alsamixer makes no difference either. Anyone have any ideas?

Arrow Me too

I have the same card.
If I plug headphones into the output jack I can get great sound. Windows XP volumn control had a button marked advanced which led to an option checkbox: Digital Output Only. Thats what I'm looking for in FC2. Maybe there is a config hack to do the trick.

Anyone know such a hack? :o

Charles - finally got mine to work after playing around for a while. Most of the problem was in the mixer settings. Follow the instructions on this page
http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc...module=emu10k1

to upgrade your ALSA install from the FC2 default. After you do that, go to your mixer and check the box for advanced options. You should see a box for digital out (or something like that) - make sure it's enabled. Adjust all your volume levels to ~50 - 75% and make sure that the slider called AC97 (or some variation of that - sorry, I'm not at my machine) is muted. I did this and haven't had any problems since!

Thanks, kuestess...

I'll give that a try over the weekend when I have time.
