K3b write error! 3rd time at same address. HALP!

:-[ WRITE@LBA=192810h failed with SK=3h/ASC=73h/ACQ=03h]: Input/output error

Im trying to write a backup of a DVD i own. It is ~6gigs and im trying to burn it to a DVD+R DL. It makes it to about 50% then it fails. This is the third time now.


Can Anyone offer any insight?

I will second the bad media. Some burners do not like some brands (or even models) of some disks.

It seem that the process fails when the burner is splitting the dvd-dl layers.
Are you ripping from disk to disk directly? If so, try backing up the dvd onto the hd with vobcopy and then remaster the dvd (the result is absolutely the same, but the data transfer rate from hd to dvd is more reliable than from dvd to dvd).
Also, trying with a "known good" media is always a good idea.

Thanx for your help. Actually I'm ripping with magic DVD ripper in windoz on my 2nd HD then burning w/k3b using my mounted windoz HD. Has worked flawlessly for me every time until now. I am waiting to get a chance to run to the store and get some different media to try.
