That guide you mention is a little outdated now. It mentions the bcm43xx driver a lot and that is no longer included with Fedora 8. The b43 driver and the parts it recommends installing are already in Fedora 8.

The output of the command:

lsmod | grep b4

says that the b43 driver is not being loaded on your machine. If it detects a wireless card the fedora kernel should load any relevant drivers.

In the case of my 4318 it certainly did. Until we get that loading it won't work.

Did you by any chance blacklist the b43 driver at any time? It can be one of the steps to get ndiswrapper working with a broadcom card.

Alternatively can you run:

lspci

and post back the parts that relate to 'network' and 'ethernet'.

Yes i have removed those lines from the /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
i undid all the steps i did when i installed ndiswrapper

Yes i have restarted the machine and the blue light on the laptop is off... and it is not switching on anymore.

Try:

modprobe b43

it may load the b43 module for us.

If it is going to be a problem we may have to figure out a way of getting it to load regularly later.

You haven't posted back the output of:

lspci

by the way.

Don't worry about the wireless light. They are the last thing on the mind of any linux wireless driver. They concentrate on getting the device working first.

In any event, if the b43 driver is not being loaded there is no possibility of the wireless light working.

I Got it working at last .... there were two instances of blacklist b43 in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
so i removed that line and rebooted now it is working... Thanks for you time and patience... I really appreciate your help. THANKS A LOOOOOOOOOOOOOT
