Re: MATE-Desktop for fedora all current versions

Oh, thank you a lot for extra packages on Fedora 18, but is there any chance to install MDM and mdm-user-switch-applet on Fedora 18? Old version are incompatible... or maybe to make user-switch-applet some other DM-friendly?

Re: MATE-Desktop for fedora all current versions

Sorry,
i postet first a wrong installation link on Wednesday morning.
The first link was for a privat repo which includes Mate-1.4.0.
If you have used this link
dl.dropbox.com/u/105479527/Mate-Desktop/fedora-release-18/mate-desktop-fedora/noarch/mate-desktop-release-18-1.fc18.noarch.rpm
revert all changes.
Pls, remove the release package 'mate-desktop-release'.
Than remove all installed packages from the dropbox repo,
and downgrade all updated packages back to fedora's version.
To revert all changes in yum use:
Code:
sudo yum history
and
Code:
sudo yum history info <id>
The right download link is
Code:
yum install https://dl.dropbox.com/u/105479527/Mate-Desktop/fedora-release-extra-18/mate-desktop-fedora/noarch/mate-desktop-extra-release-18-1.fc18.noarch.rpm
This repo link doesn't update any fedora package.
MDM and mdm-user-switch-applet aren't include in this repo because of changes with mare-panel-1.5 and missing patches in fedora's mate-desktop, mate-session and caja.

Big sorry for that confusion

Re: MATE-Desktop for fedora all current versions

Greetings,

In on Fedora 17 and I would like to use the Gnome volume control. How would I go about that?

I have a USB headset and I can not direct the output to the headset instead of the speakers. In the Gnome volume control I can select whether I want to use the internal sound card or the USB headset.

You need gnome-sound-applet for this which is include the control-center package.
After installation you will find two sound-applets in autostart.

Pls can you give a favor and use mate forum for questions like this?
It's not the point that i'm not willing to help you here, but this is a installation quide and every software or debuging question makes this topic confusing.

Thank you

Sorry, for my repo i don't want enable crossfading backgrounds again because this will break the background of MDM.
In general i don't thing that i will update f17 to forthcomming MATE-1.6 release.
This will break MDM completely and a lot of other packages which won't work anymore with 1.6.
Gsettings port, libmatepanelapplet API change, removing of python-mate .....
Not to update is not a real problem because f17 reached his EOL in 3 or 4 month, imo.
Also, an update to (1.5.x +) is never tested in a release cycle and i quess users will run in big problems with their working desktop.

If someone wants to change to fedora's version when 1.6 is released, pls post it here and i will write a quide to do this.
But as i say it isn't simple because of 'epoch' tag in versions of packages.
