Realtek AC97

I have a Realtek AC97 soundcard and sound isn't working. I'm pretty new to linux, so I need detailed instructions please.

I too have an AC97 soundcard however Linux detected it as something different and it is working perfectly. try telling Linux it is something else. I am also new to linux so i dont know exactly how to do that but i'm pretty sure it will work with it
