Question Change middle button action

In KDE or Gnome, is there a quick-and-dirty way to change the action of the mouse middle button (button three) from middle-click to double-left-click?

You'd think that this would be a FAQ-type question, but I've thoroughly researched this and I can't find an answer anywhere.
