md0: raid array is not clean...
Hi;
I have finally success in installing Fedora Core with 4 sata hd :
- 2*250Go : md0 (raid 1) with /boot and / mounting points
- 2*300Go : md1 (raid 1) with swap and /backup mounting points
First question : is this configuration of partitions is good?
Second question :
But when the fedora start I have theese messages :
md0: raid array is not clean -- starting background reconstruction
md1: raid array is not clean -- starting background reconstruction
And fedora boot normally.
On all restart I have theese message.
Is it normal? (I'm a newby on software raid whith sata hd)
Thanks

Some precisions :
I want that the firts raid volume (md0) contains the system and home directory and so can be bootable.
The second raid volume (md1) is for an incremential backup.
I have tried to use LVM for future evolutions of storage space, but I have not succeded.
Can you help me for the schema of partitions too (/ /boot /swap etc...)?
Thanks

regarding the "not clean" messages, it may be that the disks just need to synch up. give them time. with large drives could take awhile.
check /proc/mdstat for status.

I would at least have added a separate /home partition. That way, you can keep personal data and files the next time you need to "upgrade" Fedora Core, which is best done with a clean install instead of an actual upgrade.

This is normal after an installation - the RAID1 volumes need to be synchronised across the two hard disks. Just keep your computer running a while and that will sort itself out. Eventually, you should not see those messages on a reboot.

Ok,
I have checked /proc/mdstat.
The process of sync is not finished so it's still running.
Thanks a lot for theese explanations Ivanek and jowah!
