wireless card dectected but no ip address

I have a 2200bg wireless card w/the ipw2200 driver. The card is detected and it detects the wireless networks, but i cant for the life of me get an ip addrss.
just upgraded to from fc4 ----> fc5. (had the same problems in fc4)

here's my iwconfig:

Code:
lo no wireless extensions.

dev808 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"The Brown Network"
          Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: 00:0C:41:D4:19:AF
          Bit Rate=54 Mb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm
          Retry limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:off
          Power Management:off
Link Quality=61/100 Signal level=-64 dBm Noise level=-83 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:2911 Missed beacon:5

eth0 no wireless extensions.

sit0 no wireless extensions.

I also get the "fail to set bit rate" error -- have failed to get an answer by googling

right after i posted this i tried it again and this time it connected. The difference was that before i wasn't getting an access point. I didn't do anything different though...what happened?

I'm still getting the "set bit rate" error though...

You should be able to eliminate this by setting the bit rate to Auto -- at least it worked for me. In the GUI config utility, this is called "transmit rate" and you need to switch from Managed to another mode temporarly before you can change it.
