Temp Root Priv while dragging files/folders?

Hi,
Is there anyway I can gain temporary privilege so I can drag a folder from my
home directory to a "system" folder? (ie one that I don't have write access
to.)

Doing this via terminal is sorta ugly...

Well,

1) some of the paths are a bit longer
2) I am a sloppy typist
3) It would be "cool" if gnome/kde would ask for a root password
when the copy/move would take place. ( sort like starting some
of the system-config programs...

Don't need to type them, just drag the folders into terminal and it'll type them for you

That would be an interesting feature. Personnaly I like going into a console when I'm doing things as root (especially moving files). I puts me in the "You better be careful" mindset.

I guess it is a "usability" issue. In MacOSX I *can* drag one of my folders to a folder that
is owned by someone else ( and which denies me access) and I will get a dialog box
that says I don't have privilege for doing the transfer but there is an "Authenticate" button
that will let me do the transfer if I can authentic as an administrator.

Mac OSX also will "write" the path name of a file if dragged to a terminal window...I had
forgot the Gnome will do the same.

Getting old *is* hell.
