Installation hangs at "Preparing transaction from installation source"

I am installing Fedora Core 5 from a DVD I recorded as an upgrade from Fedora Core 4. I did the checksum on the DVD and it is OK. The installation worked until it got to a screen where it says "Preparing transaction from installation source". Then it hangs up, nothing happens for about twenty minutes. I tried rebooting it and starting again, and the same thing happened.

Any ideas?

Perhaps it has an unresolvable conflict or bug with some package on ur FC4 system. Have you tried installing to a new partition (not upgrading)? If that works then you may have to do it that way and copy your data over.

Thanks. I didn't have a lot of non-user account data on the computer, so I just put my account onto another DVD and just overwrote the old FC4 with the new one, and it has now installed correctly.
