Easy help question

Hi i'm new to Fedora and have a pretty basic question. How do you run something? I'm trying to install new drivers for my video card and on the ATI website it says "If you are not sure which version of XFree86 you have installed, please download and run Check.sh from a command line to find out." so i downloaded the file, but now i don't know how to run it. I know this question is very simple but i just don't know the command.

Also i have the file check.sh on my desktop and i right clicked and selected "Open with Other Application..." and i selected Terminal. and now every time i double left click check.sh it attempts to open it in terminal. How do i set it so that it opens it with Text Editor by default.

*Edit*
I'm using Fedora 5 that i downloaded and installed today if that matters much.

Well, the simple answer is to run programs from a terminal... BUT, as to your drivers, here's a couple of great sites that will help get up up and running for that and a whole lot more:

As info, the 'terminal' or 'console' is a quick way of accomplishing quite a lot in linux. You might want to check out these links:
