keyboard crazy?

ok this is weard. not even sure how to seach for this to see if anybody else has had this problem. All of a suden my keyboad on the laptop thinks some letter keys are now number keys.

alright as I am sitting here trying to figure out how to explane it I think I have part of it figured out just dont know how it happened or how to shut it off. what it is is the laptop does not have the number keypad seperate what it has is the keys that would be there added into the normal keypad. For instance in windoze if I had this turned on the keys would be as follows:
U=4
I=5
O=6
P= -
J=1
K=2
L=3

And so on till all the keys are used. The system is an Acer Aspire 3000 I am running FC5 with kernel 2.6.16-1.2096 but I also have kernel 2080 and it does the same thing. Over on that other op (man I realy hate booting that one anymore) xp everything works fine.

Anybody have any ideas I'm open to anything as long as I dont have to do a fresh install as I dont have the network working yet so cant pull the files off of that yet.

Jim

Ok I figured this out some how I managed to hit the key combo for turning the num locks on. Dont know how I did it since the Fn key is all the way next to the left Ctrl key and the numlock key is F11. Also dont know why it only affected FC and not xp.

I also know why I left xp on the laptop. So when I do something dumb I can go in there and read the man. for the laptop. Thats how I found what keys to hit.

Right I was wrong I dont have this fixed yet. Least not all the way. Just booted up the laptop and guess what its back but at least I know how to get my keys back. So aparently for some reson all of a suden the laptop is booting FC with the Numlocks on. So I guess the real question is what file do I have to go and change so it boots the numlocks off?

There is a numlockx program that does that but you would have had to install that manually.
Code:
yum remove numlockx
