Fedora Core 5 on a Laptop

I am new to fedora core, I used suse in the past on the sony vaio of mine, the model is VGN-S460. I had some trouble getting all the hardware to work properly with suse, but with fedora I have a whole new set of problems. It has installed properly, no problem, I used all the default installation setups with the partitioning, only added other software for X and other things. But when I boot up, it goes to the grub menu as it should, then just hangs at the Starting udev: and it freezes there. Every time, I have tried installing with the text install because I read on another forum it may help, but im still hosed. If any of you know a solution please let me know, or even a good partitioning scheme for it. Im not sure what I have screwed up, but any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you
