XGL or Compiz doesn't work with Totem, Xine, or Kaffeine

Hi all,

Does anyone out here have FC5 working properly with XGL and Xine or Kaffeine?

When I use XGL, videos appear washed out, or sometimes have multiple mirror images, under Totem Xine or Kaffeine. It looks a LOT like poor reception on a rabbit-ears TV... but, of course, I'm just playing mpeg files. These same files work properly with Mplayer in XGL, and they work properly with ALL video players mentioned under X.

I've attached an screenshot of the problem. It's a radar video... there should be only 1 red blob, but I'm getting a mirror effect.

Otherwise, XGL is very very nice.

Does anyone know how to fix this??
THANKS!

Hi,
I've had similar problems as you have. The only properly working app was Kaffeine, but I've had to change: settings->xine engine parameters->video
to opengl
I hope this brings you forward

You can set Totem to use opengl as video output by editing ~/.gnome2/totem_config file.
Make sure you have this line in totem_config:

video.driver:opengl

It would seem to me that XGL has general problems with video as evidenced by the fact that I can use TVTime under normal X but not when using XGL.

Xgl has sometimes problem dealing with players using xv driver. If you are one of those users experiencing this, please make sure your player (Totem, Xine, Kaffeine and Mplayer) uses other driver like opengl or x11. c",?

Unhappy Mplayer + XGL problems

Hi all,

I have the following problem: When i switch to fullscreen in Mplayer multiple times using the 'f' keyboard shortcut, XGL crashes leaving me with a blinking cursor out of the graphical environment. Furthermore, when i use the rightclick menu in Mplayer and choose fullscreen it takes me to fullscreen, but when i choose 'normal size' right after this, the window disappears and i can see only the control gui of Mplayer. I am using Fedora Core 5. Please help me with fixing this issue
