Add/Remove Software (Pirut) Error: Unable to retrieve software information

I want to add another software from my FC5 DVD using menu Add/Remove software, but error occured "Unable to retrieve software information". I have try to reinstall my FC5 about twices but still error like above.
Please help me what must i take to resolve this proble

Once you finished installing FC5, open a terminal, run "su -" to become root, and issue "yum check-update."

This should download the info you need.

Too late for this ? but may help others... You might want to check your DNS settings quick... if you can't resolve names then this might not work... the DNS information is on a different tab and is often forgotten about..... make sure you can resolve names by simply opening a web browser and try to get to a site by name... or you can try to PING something like ping www.google.com and see what you get....
