Arrow Yummy, yummy i got linux in my tummy .....

If you look at the directory /etc/yum.repos.d/ there are all config files which server you FC5 is connecting to for updates. This is the reason why it don't asks you for inserting the CD5. And the other reason
is if you don't install software which is located on CD5 FC5 don't needs it, this is true for a new install.

When you have installed the system Fedora always gets the updates/installs online. You can copy
the rpms from cd, if you know which one, and use yum localinstall.

Read at the RedHat Docs about yum. And you know the deal.

Good
Luck.

If you update your computer using "yum update" or other methods along the same lines, the files you download are no longer FROM the cd, so naturally, if you uninstall them, they will compare notes from the servers FIRST.. then do uninstalls.

usualy uninstall only requires selecting them in add/remove to uncheck them . then applying and letting the uninstall happen.

If your installing - it always checks repos because fc5 automaticly assumes your dvd is out dated, and checks for most recent rpm builds on distros.

things may be a little slower this way. but your system gets the most current stuff.
