i've installed and played CounterStrike Source, worked nicely
I installed Steam using Cedega and downloaded CS:S... worked nicely after that...

I have both games on my steam account, I was wondering if the settings for hardware would be any different on Linux that Windows?

The only major issue I've seen is if the game uses DirectX as it's main engine. Sometimes the devs just don't make a good opengl port for whatever reason (probably PM's pushing to get the game out the door).
