music plays only for 1 sec

i had installed redhat 9 long back, music played not even for 1 second
then i installed SUSE Linux, now also same problem occured for mp3s, oggs, etc.
but an audio CD worked perfect.
now i have installed FC4, again the same problem occurs, not even audio CD works
my soundcard is detected by linux
what shall i do????
does FC4 require some additional drivers to play music?

Hi there,

When you run the soundcard detection and play the test music..do you hear anything?

What soundcard is it? Onboard or separate card?

Then you have a driver issue..your card isn't supported by Fedora.

What kernel version are you running? You might have luck with a newer one.
