Getting XGL or AIGLX working with Compiz OR Beryl!

I have the fedora-xgl repo, as well as others. Doesnt it use the fedora-xgl repo though?

Yes, but what are the others? I think you may be missing one. Can you post:

Your repos are fine - Which ones do you have enabled? You'll need the [code], [extras] and [fedora-xgl] repos to grab glitz-glx.

I just read this in the ubuntu forums

As I read it, AIGLX is also much less ambitious - it allows you to have a standard X server and use GL acceleration easily for some effects. XGL is an X server that does everything through GL - not just the funky composite effects, but all of the standard X server stuff. As I understand it, with proper driver support XGL should be significantly faster than AIGLX, because all of the X server stuff will be done on the GPU, not just the effects.

Is that right? XGL is/should be faster than AIGLX?

I'm just trying to figure out which one to install, as my PC isn't a fantastic spec (GHz CPU, GF3 Ti200, 512MB RAM).

I'm running the 'built in' Fedora stuff right now, and it seems really laggy, especially if i load firefox, and it's displaying a few flash animations >.<

I don't know so I won't lie and say no, but AFAIK the difference if there is one isn't great. For me Xgl and AIGLX run at the same speed (I'm on a old card, too - MMX 64MB AGP 2x)

i enabled the fedora-xgl and i thought the other ones were already enabled. I can download and install glitz-glx fine its only the libsvg and libsvg-cairo that are giving me problems anyways. It says it cant read the repomd.xml file from the fedora-xgl repo. That is after i get a 404 error from fedoraxgl.tuxfamily.org/repository/6/i386/repomd.xml.

I attached an image with the exact error that is occuring.

hi all, another time...

I have fc6 with ati 9600 radeon, with glx installed and running

i install beryl too, i can enjoy with the xgl desktop effects but not with beryl....

if i try beryl in console i get this message

hey how do get limewire to work

I have tried doing the Xnest setup but i don't know how to run it
