kernel panic - not syncing

Hi,
I built the ISO of FC5 with few customized rpms .Its installation completes fine and when it boots for the first time , its hanging and is displaying the following error message..

ata2: disabling port
kernel panic - not sycning: attempt to kill init !

Please help me to fix this problem.

One question is whether you had any problem installing the uncustomized version of FC5? If not, then what custom rpms did you add?

Yes, the installation of FC5 with original RPMS is fine . And regarding the customized rpms , we just changed the release and added the vendor name in specs files of all SRPMS and built them. We did not chang anything in the source code of any package.

Do you have a SATA drive on the machine? If not then "ata2: disabling port" would seem to be a harmless error. If you are using SATA, is the controller set to do RAID?

Yes I have SATA drive on the machine. How can I know that my controller is set to do RAID or not.

The setting for the controller to (hardware) RAID or non-RAID is usually in the machine's BIOS setup.
