Question Unable to save printer options on XP client with an FC6-Samba-Cups print server...

Running FC6 - Samba - Cups... I've spent several days getting the print server side up and running...went through the detailed CUPS instructions to config smb.conf... downloaded and installed PS driver to get an HP8100DN running on the FC print server from XP...

My challenge is, I'm unable to save the printer options on the XP side (Duplexing in particular). On the XP side these have to be reset each time a print job is sent, else they auto revert back to single sided print. Have no issues on the FC6 side.. retains duplex option fine.. duplexing option is config'd on the FC6 side.. problem is inability to save the config on the XP side...

Problems appears to be with the postscript driver that I had to install to get the jobs to print on the print server... I've had no issues printing directly to the 8100DN via the PCL driver at all...

Anyone had this issue or something similar that might be able to provide some advice... I've spent the last 4 days up till 3am banging away at this and I've gotten pretty far without coming for help.. this is my first post... assistance would be immensely appreciated...

Thanks!

Check with HP but it looks like you can have postscript (fast printing) or PLC 6 (2-up and duplex) but not postscript (fast) duplex.

Hmm? The postscript driver has printer options, including two-sided printing, and those options are settable on the linux print server as well as on the XP client. Further, I can print in duplex if I manually set two-sided printing each time I print a document on the XP side. So, while I agree it has something to do with the postscript driver on the XP side, I'm confident you can print in duplex with the postscript driver. Thanks for your input.

Any other assistance would be greatly appreciated.
