Question Where has gstreamer gone?

I noticed in FC6 some of the gstreamer files which bring Totem to life are missing. There used to be a group of plug in files named "the good, bad, and the ugly".

The gstreamer download page is still set at FC5, the livna repo's don't have the "bad', and the FreshRPM packages will not install due to a dependency error.

As a result, Totem is useless.

Anyone know the story here?

Hello:
Which repos do you have enabled?

There may be other combinations, however, you should be able to get everything you need from
the combination of
freshrpms and dries

What is the dependency error that you are receiving?

Steve,

When I attempt to load " gstreamer-plugins-bad-0.10.3-1.fc6.i386.rpm" from FreshRPM I receive the following dependancy error.

"Missing Dependency: libswfdec-0.3.so.0 is needed by package gstreamer-plugins-bad"

Here's what I have - all from core/extras/livna, but I use gstreamer only for music so I cannot say if it is all that you need
Code:
yum list | grep gstreamer
gstreamer.i386 0.10.10-2.fc6 installed
gstreamer-devel.i386 0.10.10-2.fc6 installed
gstreamer-plugins-base.i386 0.10.10-1.fc6 installed
gstreamer-plugins-base-devel.i386 0.10.10-1.fc6 installed
gstreamer-plugins-good.i386 0.10.4-1.fc6 installed
gstreamer-plugins-good-devel.i386 0.10.4-1.fc6 installed

gstreamer-plugins-ugly-devel.i386 0.10.4-3.lvn6 installed
gstreamer-python.i386 0.10.5-2.fc6 installed
gstreamer-tools.i386 0.10.10-2.fc6 installed
gstreamer08.i386 0.8.12-8.fc6 installed
gstreamer08-plugins.i386 0.8.12-7.fc6 installed

Well, and about your missing dependency - it is at freshrpms as well as gstreamer-plugins-bad: http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat....i386.rpm.html

Martin,

You are correct and these were the missing pieces. I wonder why they are not included in livna. There is also the "gstreamer010-fluendo-mp3-ipp-0.10.0-1.flu.i386" rpm which is not widely distributed for Fedora but is available in Ubuntu.

Thank you for the info...

According to package description the gstreamer-plugins-bad are plugins that was not tested enough or that are of poor quality, so I assume that that is the reason why they are not in livna... About gstreamer010-fluendo-mp3-ipp I know nothing.
