screen goes black after "starting udev"

Hello all,

I'm pretty much a Linux noob. The only Linux distribution I have any experience with is Ubuntu, which I played it with for a few days a while ago.

A few days ago I downloaded the Fedora Core 6 DVD ISO, and I'm having problems with using it...

After I finished the install and rebooted my PC, Fedora tries to boot up. I get "starting Kernel", then I get a certain line which I can't remember at the end of which I get an "[OK]", then the 2nd line I get is "starting udev" at the end of which I get another "[OK]" and then my screen goes black and into power management/saving mode...

I can do nothing except shut my computer down by pressing the power button.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
