FC6: Need a good install this time...

1. can I install apt and smart

2. leave the extra repositories selection unchecked.

3. Gnome...

4. should I pretty much leave everything else blank or even go through and unchecked?

No, if you want to install apt and smart during the installation. That is the repository that contains both apt and smart.

You can go through each section and have a look for any package that you would like. There is no requirement to select any additional.
You will have to select apt and smart .... they will be there somewhere.

If you have problems with installing then you do not have to select the extras repo or any additional software packages other than the default. You can always add the extras repo later.
You also may want to start the installation at the boot: prompt with
linux i686
to ensure it installs a i686 kernel versus an i586 [anaconda bug, which affects some installs]
