Gnome + Beryl= O.K., KDE + Beryl = No joy

Just as the title indicates, Beryl works in Gnome but not in KDE. I don't think it's anything to do with my xorg.conf but here it is just in case I'm wrong :

That probably has nothing to do with your problem.

I can use Beryl on both GNOME and KDE.

Ok, first off, using the tray icon, I've needed to tweak the rendering settings there or Aquamarine would crash on me. I have an NVIDIA card too, and I needed to set the Rendering Path (under advanced options) to Copy, or aquamarine would just keep crashing on me.

Good luck.

Whats baffiling is that Beryl was working well with KDE then a few updated later no-go. I had some problems with Gnome where the screen was black no taskbar just a mouse pointer. I fixed it by deleting the .gconf and .gconfd folders having them regenerate in my next Gnome session. This broke some desktop icons in KDE could it have broken something for Beryl in KDE?

Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite"
Option "RENDER"

should be

Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "True"
Option "RENDER"
EndSection

But I don't think this is the problem

O.K. I think I found a clue. If I run "beryl" from a terminal it works, albeit with no titlebars on the windows. This is the output :
[lindy@contraption ~]$ beryl
XGL Absent, checking for NVIDIA
Nvidia Present
Relaunching beryl with __GL_YIELD="NOTHING"
XGL Absent, checking for NVIDIA
Nvidia Present

Reloading all options.

Running beryl-manager from the menu, run command or terminal results in a black screen.

Well I don't know if it was something I did ,or Beryl PMF'ed (pure f***ing magic) itself but its working fine now. I did as you suggested leigh123 and changed Option "Composite" to Option "Composite" "True". I then edited out # HorizSync source: edid, VertRefresh source: edid and all occurances of ### Comment all HorizSync and VertSync values to use DDC: saved, rebooted and bingo it works. A quick check of my xorg.conf shows that the ###Comment all HorizSync line has been regenerated. What could be doing this ,and why?
