How to add packages after install?

I installed fc6 (zod) and cannot get an internet connection, so adding packages via 'yum' is not an option. I need to go back and install some packages that I did not select during the initial installation. Can I do this using the installation discs without doing a full reinstallation? I tried to use the 'upgrade' mode, but the installation only looked to upgrade the packages I already installed, and did not offer me options to install new ones.

Thanks,
Jim

If they are "simple" packages, rpm -i packagename.rpm. Unfortunately, that won't be typical. Most will probably require dependencies so your best bet is to create a local repo from the CD/DVD.

Actually, my question was in the context of not having an ethernet connection after my initial install. So, using yum and so forth was not an option. I guess it's just impossible to use the installation CDs to add a few rpms not chosen during the initial installation (short of doing a fully new installation, of course).

Actually, those links were for creating a local repo ON YOUR HD and then using yum without an internet connection. You don't point it to the online repos but to the repo on your drive.

I have not done this as I have had no need, but many have done it successfully.

Pretty much everything on the CDs are also yumable. I'd just load up a good Yum GUI like yum extender or gnome-yum and go to town.
