Acer Aspire 5100 Series...and Wifi

ok..i know i need to install the driver. I even found a site that explains it..

however, i tried the commands listed under the Wifi area... and i get a bash ?

I need to get the wifi going for school :S. this is the exact laptop i have btw and if i get the wifi to work, Fedora Core 6 will be my first sucessful linux distro to work!

btw. im trying this through terminal if that helps.

update: I found some help online but it wants me to edit a file...and add a few lines but I don't know how to open and edit a file in the /etc/ any help? btw I am in root but it says I still don't have permission to edit? idk I'm confused.

Open a command line terminal (you'll find it in applications / acessories). Type su then press enter, at the prompt type your root password press enter. At the prompt type gedit press enter. You should have no problems finding and editing the file from here.
