BroadCom 440 10/100 NIC

Hi everyone

I'm new to installing versions of *nix, but not a new user...

I recently installed FC6, but my BroadCom 440 10/100 NIC doesn't work. I searched the forums here, but the links I found to download the appropriate drivers either didn't work, or when downloaded, the install file didn't match the actual contents of the downloaded items.

Any suggestions? I've searched Google for the expected (Broadcom 440 10/100 drivers, Broadcom 440 10/100 FC6 drivers, Broadcom 440 10/100 Fedora Core 6 drivers, etc), and have found nothing that's useful since my installed version doesn't have network access (for things like yum, etc)

Any help is appreciated.

[name removed by administrator],

if you dont have any drivers for your card, here:
http://www.bebits.com/bob/18597/Broadcom440x308b.zip

but I would firstly check if there is b44 module.

.... I scored 500 posts! yeeeaaah!

I tried that, but it wouldn't run because the folders weren't there...there's no drivers folder, or add-ons

Where do I have to put the .x and .ns files?

The output should tell you where what the missing folders are. You can run a teminal to make them. The command is mkdir.

If it says premishen denied do it as root.

It wouldn't let me make the directories that the install file wants, even as root.

When trying to activate/use the network adapter I get two errors

On startup of the system:
"eth0 doesn't appear to be present, delaying installation...[FAILED]"

And then when I try to "activate" under Network Manager:
"Failed. b44 doesn't exist" (or something similar)

Any more ideas?

You'll have to explain what "mad wifi" is...

And I don't know ndswrapper is, so unless it comes with the distro install, then ...no?

Are you using a customised kernel? Because the b44 driver is built in the standard Fedora kernel, and works great here on a BCM4401-B0 integrated ethernet card...
Did you try a "modprobe b44"?

The kernel is standard, straight from the download file. Nothing customized, nothing changed. Normal install.

You're saying just run "modprobe b44" in terminal?

I'll see how that works.
