How do I send MythTV sound to TWO sound cards?

Hi, I'm running MythTV on FC5 and I want to change the sound setup a little.

I'm very hard of hearing so most of the time my wife and I watch TV with the subtitles on. But not all shows have subtitles, which means that I have to turn the volume up... quite a bit... which is really starting to annoy my wife... help!

I think that the easiest thing for me to do is to put another sound card in my machine and plug in some headphones (possibly with an amp in between?) so that she can have to sound at a comfortable level, and I can have my own private volume control.

The question is how do I go about setting up my system so that the same sound is sent to both cards?

Any ideas?

it can be done but it would take quite a bit of work. I think it would be easier to just get a 3.5 plug splitter and run your speakers to one and the headphones to the other, turn it up to your volume and turn the speakers down. Shouldn't cost more than 15 bucks and a few minutes to configure. And a heck of alot easier than running two sound cards.

I have tried using a Y-splitter, but the volumes get pretty messed up and the headphones are way to quite for me to hear much. You say it can be done, please point me in the right direction.
