eclipse and scanner class

fedora eclipse doesn't identify the scanner class.

i'm pretty sure i have the latest java.

You really sure? Be sure you have at least a 1.5 JRE installed with Eclipse's JRE setup tool. And be sure your project is using it. If it is available Scanner should be suggested in the import quick fix.
