Install freenx from Fedora Extras on the FC6 machine and NX Client from NoMachine on the Windows system.

You need to forward TCP port 22 from your router to the FC6 machine. On the FC6 machine, open the SSH port in the firewall settings and make sure the sshd service is running. Copy the file /etc/nxserver/client.id_dsa.key from the Fedora machine to the Windows machine and import it in the NX client configuration.

Probably both. Make sure it is also open in your fedora firewall menu -> system -> administaration -> security level and firewall
Not to hijack this post. But, I would simply use vnc. It comes with gnome I think. Go to your menu -> system -> prefrences -> remote desktop. To connect to your desktop from windows use realvnc http://www.realvnc.com/products/free...vncviewer.html
You might want to try both options to see which run performs fastest for you.

I know there are many who love FreeNX, but I tried it two or three different times and could never maintain a reliable connection. I prefer to use the vncviewer over an ssh tunnel using the "-via" option.

It is probably running by default to be sure run
/etc/init.d/sshd status
if it is off run
/etc/init.d/sshd start
and
chkconfig sshd on (to turn it on at boot).
Although, I don't think you need to do ssh tunneling with vnc (it just adds security) - turning on remote desktop in gnome and then running realvnc should do (you may have to open up the ports in your firewall as described above though)
