how to load USB device drivers into kernel source & source tree?

I am setting up external USB controller device driver NET2282 into my Linux PC (v2.6.18).

According to the user guide, I am supposed to load the USB controller device driver files into "kernel source and soure tree as drivers/usb/gadget/files".

Would you kindly advise how do I do that? Where do I find the kernel source and source tree? Is it in the Desktop environment?

You're trying to recompile the kernel. Are you sure that your device is not alredy supported?
Anyway, if you want to do this, you can start with the kernel srpm in the Core Sources repo.
