Hey Guys

Im new here, so please bear with me...
Im having some problems setting up a remote** VNC server to my co-located server.

I have initialized the vncserver software on the fedora box, but cannot get vnc to work with
SSH-TUNNEL (via putty) on windows and REALVNC.

It keeps saying cannot connect to host. Anyone got some ideas as to what I can troubleshoot to get this working?

I Realise now I didn't give a very detailed description of my problem.
I started VNCSERVER on my fedora core 5 distro and listened for port 1 (5901)
It said the port was running.

So I opened up putty and did a tunnel forward from my port 5901 to port 5901 on the server (this should technically open up both ports even with firewalls, I think)

SSH setup to connect on port 22, opened up the tunnel shell, then opened my vnc viewer on windows, and am getting the error Cannot connect to host.

this was the ip line i was using to connect on realvnc for windows
***.***.***.***:5901

PLEASE HELP! I'm too new to linux to do command line stuff so I'm at a big loss here, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does it have to be VNC? In my experience, NX works well and is easy to setup.
In any case, with a tunneled connection your client should connect to the tunnel end at the localhost but it seems that you are trying to connect directly to the server. Try address 127.0.0.1:5901 instead.
