What version should I install i386 or x86_64

Why does it seem like I should use x86_64 version for my Celeron 2.66 and Pentium 2.8 CPU's that both support Intel EM64T (supports 64 bit computing) with FC 6 but with Fedora 7 I should no longer use the x86_64 version on my systems if I corectly read the docs below ?
