Fedora kernel halts on resume from a suspend

Hi,

Most of the time after a suspend to ram, Fedora 7 crashes (probably because of a kernel panic). I say a kernel problem, because the caps lock light blinks constantly --something the kernel can use to send a panic message just before crashing. But also, this problem is probably stemming from my graphics card drivers...

My hardware is : hp pavilion dv6000 laptop, dual Turion CPU (64 bits), Nvidia grapics card (GeForce Go 72000)

I am using the legacy nvidia drivers and kernel module (96xx) from Livna.

Using the standard "nv" driver didn't also change much.

I added "noapic" and "vga=normal" to my kernel options on the grub, and recently also added "irqpoll" to avoid some irq related problems I encountered.

This is reproducible and happens almost every time I send the laptop to sleep -- which it does without causing trouble until trying to wake it up...

Any suggestions appreciated on what else I could try to have a more stable "suspend"...

Cheers
Mutlu

Hi, can't really help you except for saying that suspend to ram or disk in Fedora gives on some machines problems of the kind you describe. Has to do - I think - with failing hardware recognition or something. On my FC6 desktop suspend to ram works (except that when I put a cd in the drive after the pc resumed from that state, the machine freezes after some 45 seconds - repeatable), suspend to disk works as well but after resume my Wacom pen doesn't react any more. Btw, the same actions on the same machine with ubuntu work nearly always as they should, so I guess it's something that Fedora misses...

EDIT. Forgot to say that both actions on my FC6 laptop do not work at all. It apparently depends on your specific hardware, meaning one is lucky or not (like in real life, actually -.

PAul.
