Unable to play h.264 video.

I have totem-xine mplayer and vlc installed. None of them seem able to play this video type, regardless of the container. I got the same problem with .mov .avi and .mkv containers.

I have x264.x86_64 installed.

Totem-xine mplayer and vlc are all installed from the livna repository. Searching my repos and this forum came up with nothing helpful.

I really would like to get this working in mplayer, since that is my primary video plugin for firefox.

Hmm, my vlc xine and mplayer installs look about the same as yours. I have a few extra .i386 things installed. I don't have the gstreamer-devel stuff installed, but otherwise the same there also. Kernel is the same.

Did you install the codecs from the Stanton Finley guide?

Hello:
Yes, I'm sorry I forgot to add that.
I used the package from ftp://ftp1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/rele...061022.tar.bz2
Now, you're wondering where I put them ?? Let me check
/usr/local/lib/codecs
/usr/local/lib64/codecs
/usr/lib/codecs
/usr/lib64/codecs
/usr/lib/win32
/usr/lib64/win32

and I think that's it.

Hmm, that does not appear to have been effective. Would you take a look at this video stream and let me know if you can see it?

Oh well, looks like a problem with the "quicktime" video streams from here then.

Hello:
It did manage to play here, although my connection to their server is pretty lousy.

See the attached.

If the server is that bad, maybe I won't worry about the h264 video. Out of curiosity, do you have port 32788 open? That is where I always get stuck.

Hello:
I fired it up again today and the stream was a little bit better, but not much.
My guess is that the lack of a sustainable stream from the server is the real issue.

Yes, I have seen the same port thing, however, I did not adjust anything with my firewall(s)
