Two odd problems

Since I upgraded from FC6 to F7 I have experienced two strange problems. The first is when I put my computer into suspend mode, the screen shuts off and the only way I can get it back on is by rebooting. The second problem is that the hard drive access LED and the IR LEDs never shut off -- they're always activated. My first priority would be to solve the suspend problem, but if anyone has any insight as to how to solve the LED problem I would really appreciate it. I figured these problems have to do with exceptional hardware interactions with fedora.

Edit: I have a Sony VAIO VGN-FS620/W laptop, if that has anything to do with my strange problems.
