wireless not working / cant install ndis/driver

hey guys right now i am taking a class in Linux at ITT and decided i liked Linux so much i am dual booting it with xp on a dell latitude 120L. i have searched for my answer but cannot find it.

my problem: network manager keeps using a broadcom driver for my intel pro wireless 1370 minipci card (i believe that is what i have) the drivers for my card are not all ready there so i try to install ndiswrapper but my biggest problem is that the build link in /lib/modules/..../ is incorrect THE FILE DOESNT EXIST I tried to use locate and find command and i tried to update the file using yum but the file just isnt there. can any one tell me what i need to do to get my wireless running i have the driver and ndiswrapper 1.47 and im running fc 7

THANKS FOR ANY HELP IN ADVANCE.

Hello Gixm87

I think you are trying to do it the hard way if you are installing ndiswrapper from source.

There are third party repositories for Fedora that contain a lot of extra rpms. One of them has all you need for ndiswrapper. The advantage of doing it that way is that you don't have to recompile each time the kernel changes - and that's quite often at present.

Here is a link to the howto that I follow:

http://www.fedoraguide.info/index.ph..._drivers_howto

in fact I'm just about to follow those instructions now.

Post back if you have any problems - or indeed to report success.

Enable the livna.org repo, goto livna.org and select the repo, and install the rpm, then open a terminal window, change to root and type:

yum install ndiswrapper

this will survive kernel updates...
