install tar.bz files

hi,
how tar files can be installed in fedora linux? i have some tar.bz files like mplayer etc

Would softwares supporting fedora's previous versions(1,2,4,6) can be supported to fedora 7. i'm using fedora 7 now.Every time i am getting mirrors of softwares for fedora 7
My machine doesnot have internet connection.Therefore how could i install those softs in my machine?

You could use the "tar -xjtv foo.tar.bz" command but I strongly suggest you go get current versions form the repositories (like livna.org).

No you can't practically use the old rpms since the dependencies are all different.
