This weekend the
NTP Pool Project reached the 1000-servers-in-the-pool mark. The project provides the "free time backbone" of the Internet by operating a cluster of NTP servers which are open for public access by anybody who needs or wants his PC system clock to be as accurate as possible.
Since the NTP Pool servers are used in the default configuration of most popular Linux distributions (of course including FC), the number of users increases daily and we are in need for more servers to spread the load.
If you have a static IP address and your PC is connected 24/7 to the Internet, please consider
joining the pool. Currently the pool is giving away professional time synchronization equipment in the form of a PCI GPS time receiver and a Linux based NTP appliance, so please check if you are able and willing to join the pool and apply for this equipment in order to add a stratum 1 time reference to your network.
Cheers,
Heiko
