Open 'Add/Remove Software' from the Gnome 'Applications' menu and in the left column scroll down to 'Languages' and in the right box choose 'Chinese Support'

To enter Chinese text, first open a Terminal and type:
mkdir ~/.xinput.d
Then:
ln -s /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/scim ~/.xinput.d/default
Log-out and back in.
Edit: If you have a problem switching input method then see the fix here:

Glad to see you have your languages sorted out As far as your wireless goes, you should start a new thread and give as many details as you can, if you haven't done so already. Also, search back through the forum using your NIC model as a search term, it may have already been covered.

Err, sorry to jump in but this thread is relevant. Can you tell me the code to enter Japanese text, I have the support and also scim enabled yet I cannot enter Japanese in emails and myspace etc
Is the code above the same as for Chinese as well as Japanese or is there any difference?

ln -s /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/scim ~/.xinput.d/default
did not work
bash: In: command not found.
How can I install/uninstall layout variants? I had it in F-8, but lost trying to add KDE desktop.
In scim I got all activated, but how do I add 1 of pinyin's to layout variants?

And what then? In KDE, layout variants can be chosen in regional and languages. In Gnome I see variants only when select a language to install.
I just copied your line in terminal, reloged in, and as usually nothing has changed. With "China" kb indicator it types english.
Sorry, I see the pinyin indicator. Thanks!
Do you know dictionaries for Linux like Power word?
