is there a way to get livna libglx.so to 'just work' (FC6, kernel 188.8.131.52-49.fc6)
when i load the livna nvidia libglx.so , the xserver waits showing a blank screen and this in the Xorg.0.log:
(II) LoadModule: "glx"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/nvidia/libglx.so
-------- end of Xorg.0.log --------
... then i have to Ctrl-Alt-F1 or Ctrl-C to kill the server, at which point i just use the backup xorg.conf and the server restarts OK.
the xorg libglx.so works fine. so the difference is the livna nvidia module. i basically did this in order:
yum update kernel
-> 184.108.40.206-49.fc6, i686 (NOT i586 - known to be bad - google this)
yum install kmod-nvidia-96xx
-> installs kmod-nvidia-96xx and automatically pulls in xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-96xx
i then hacked/flailed a lot to get an xorg.conf that 'just works', but i think its alright by the Xorg.0.log. includes running system-config-display, nvidia-xconfig, nvidia-settings, and finally decided to issue:
... so at that point, i lost track of what these things were doing besides updating xorg.conf. i THINK i let yum do everything with loading modules or whatever ; i KNOW that i did NOT use anything available from nvidia.com. all this is from multiple login/out, startx's, etc., so i had the original simple question b/c i seem to be stuck at that libglx.so 'not working'. in case someone asks about FC7 upgrade, well, i was hoping to get by without, since its easier overall in my case.
