Help! Add/Remove Software & Software Updater not working after 10-11-07 updates

Hello - after today's 9 (I think) updates, add/remove software along with software updater no longer works. Root passwd window pops up, then nothing else happens!

Anyone else experience this? Is my install broke now?

Hello:
Open a terminal and log in as root using
su -
then type
yum clean all
then type
yum check-update

and post the output

Yes, I have just experienced this. Surely this sort of thing should not happen. Very annoying.

I found a workaround - turning off yum-updates running at boot - at http://santiago.cc/healingphilippines (under the paragraph "Fedora 7 Add/Remove Bug".

It started working again, I think the problem was with the remote end, not responding. I noticed activity on the ethernet connection, must be checking with a server somewhere. Tonight, both are working fine.

That's interesting. Perhaps I'll turn yum-updates at boot back on again and see what happens.

been having same problem add/remove software not responding also my internet
is very slow I did try yum clear all and got this

[root@localhost ~]# yum clean all

what is going on
I must add this my system was turn off for about a week and after that all went down the
hill
before shut down system was running just fine.

yes just give some time thats all i did reboot the system and let it idle for few hours
