crazy volume controls with keyboard

i am fairly new on the distro and i am having this odd problem. i am running fedora 8 with gnome and i have a logitech keyboard with play / stop / skip and volume controls ect. all of the keys function with one small hangup, the volume control is changing the analog mix capture rather than the pcm or master volume. its probably something rook that i am overlooking but its fairly frustrating. any ideas?

i have a samsung pleomax and i havent got it to work under anything but e17 (weird but true) on xfce its as good as inexistant.

its def weird the play pause stop and skip work fine with xmms and rhythmbox which is what i am manly using. i can see the on screen volume display when i hit the volume buttons or mute but its not changing the right thing on the mixer.
